- Cut log quality: recognize obvious defects such as excessive bark inclusion or incorrect length after a supervised bucking operation.
- Felling site hazards: list common risks including widow-makers and uneven terrain during a pre-shift safety briefing on a logging operation.
- Hand tools (planting bars, hoedads, hand saws): use safely under a crew lead's direction on a planting unit.
Where the technique itself comes from
This module builds the judgment around the task — the standard it has to meet, what to verify, what to hand off, and where it goes wrong. It does not teach the technique. Learning to transfer a patient safely, disinfect a scope, or run a weld comes from supervised practice and your program's own training, and this assessment measures whether you have it rather than replacing it.
