Work readiness · Role-play · 35 min
The first two weeks
Asking for help without looking lost, taking a correction, and finding out what 'done' means here. The skills that decide whether a first job lasts.
Target level: Proficient — Has functional knowledge of the skill and can apply it properly in specific on-the-job settings.
Why this design
Play the interaction live with a partner, then swap and run it again. Interaction-heavy skills — customer service, escalation, difficult news, handoffs.
What this evidences
- communication×1 at Proficient
- mindfulness×0.6 at Proficient
By the end, the learner can
- Performance review presentation: leads structured reviews of logistics KPIs against service-level agreements with customers, addressing gaps and corrective actions directly
- Proposal development communication: writes and delivers comprehensive proposals including cost estimates, routing rationale, and timeline documentation to customer decision-makers
- Stakeholder negotiation dialogue: conducts verbal negotiations with carriers, suppliers, and subcontractors to align on service terms, costs, and delivery schedules
Session plan
- 5 minThe sceneWhere this shows up: transportation routes and warehouses or terminals, working with supervisors, dispatchers, customers or passengers. Conditions to expect: safety-sensitive, time-bound, movement-oriented. Entry roles this maps to: Aircraft Cargo Handling Supervisors, Aircraft Service Attendants, Ambulance Drivers and Attendants, Except Emergency Medical Technicians.
- addresses transportation delays or shipment discrepancies with customers through direct, factual explanation and documented follow-up
- 10 minRun itPairs. One plays the supervisors, one plays the Aircraft Cargo Handling Supervisors. Run the scene for four minutes, then swap. The observer scores against the criteria before anyone discusses it.
- Tools in play: Spreadsheet software, Office suite software, Data base user interface and query software.
- 10 minObserver scores itScored live against the four levels. The scorer marks what they saw, not what they assume the learner could do on a better day. Proficient is the target for this point in the program: Has functional knowledge of the skill and can apply it properly in specific on-the-job settings.
- 10 minSwap and re-runClose the loop: what changed between the first attempt and the last, and what would have to be true for communication to hold up on a bad day.
